Raynsway Properties Ltd is a property company situated in Thurmaston, Leicestershire. With an extensive property portfolio of 60 commercial properties with over 430,000 sq ft of building space ranging from light industrial to office based lettings, the company also developed and owns Leicester Marina, situated just outside of Thurmaston.
Founded in 1977 by Charlie Rayns, the company first developed a large range of industrial units at Pinfold Road before developing nearby Bridge Business Park, a mixture of light industrial and office. With over 45 units built and let by the mid 1990's, Charlie embarked on adding a leisure aspect to the business and built a marina. Leicester Marina today has over 150 short term and long term moorings and is home to many people who enjoy the quaint and idyllic surroundings.
From the early 1990's to 2001, Charlie purchased land either side of the A607, which was to become the next large development and phase in Raynsway's history. In 2003, the company began development on a high quality business park just outside of Syston, called Watermead Business Park. Adjacent to Watermead Country Park, and home to tenants including Tarmac, Flogas, Bentley, Amec and Interserve, it is the only large, premium quality office development on the North side of Leicester.
The first building was for Lafarge UK's head office (now trading as Tarmac), a 48,000 sq ft custom build which then paved the way for FloGas, a 19,000 sq ft custom build and Bentley Motors, a 23,000 sq ft glass panelled custom built showroom which put Watermead on the Leicester map and became an iconic building within the region.
Sadly in 2005, Charlie passed away suddenly and the business responsibilities and running was led by his wife Giannina.
Since 2006, projects include the completion of an 8,000 sq ft speculative build on Watermead and a valet area at Bentley as Lamborghini Leicester moved in to join Bentley. In 2011, Raynsway built the first Passivhaus energy efficient zero carbon office in the East Midlands for Interserve which has been widely acclaimed. The head office of Dunelm, and Marlborough Court offices one and two feature within Watermead Business Park following a land sale agreement and we continue to deal with enquiries for further office builds.
Today the company is owned and continues to be operated by the Rayns family as the second generation joins Raynsway to continue the legacy that Charlie created.
